I great to know that such programs like CFAB’s Child Protection Lecture on Child Trafficking was held and also knowing that many people are still concerned regarding such issue and problems. .

The latest BBC documentary about Neil Morrissey’s childhood in care is absolutely an important thing to watch for those who are directly or indirectly involved with the child care or any other children care institutes. I fully agree with the overall thought here established and yes, i also take it absolutely granted that children in their adolescence should be taken sincere care with all kind of mental freshness and support to built for their well-built future. This blog is a must watch one.

Dear Neil,
Your recent programme on BBC2 was compulsive viewing and 100% on the button, you are so correct in what you say about the after care for children in care. They need support at this very vulnerable age some sort of Grandmother/Grandfather (Acting)
figure in their lives to check them, see how they are coping, emotional support as well. Its true about 18 years and being cut off.

Good luck to you please keep and the good work on the awareness of young people in care.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We publish a series of A-level student project books called Issues. The books deal with contemporary social issues and contain information from a variety of sources including newspapers, magazines, lobby groups and government statistics. The aim of the series is to provide a wide range of opinions and up-to-date information. We are currently researching a new book on the issue of child exploitation.

We are considering including some information from your organisation's web site www.cfab.uk.net. I would therefore be very grateful if you could send me the name and e-mail address of the relevant person to contact regarding a request to reproduce information from your organisation's web site. If you feel there would be a problem with copyright, please do let me know.

I would appreciate it if you could contact me with some urgency, as our deadline is very close.

Yours sincerely

Comment on 10,000 invisible children by Janet Wallace

It is rightly noted that people who enter into private arrangements to care for other people's children have a legal responsibility to inform social services but more often than not, they don't and 'Climbie' is only the tip of the iceberg.

One of my typical examples of such arrangement is of a 13-year-old girl who was brought to this country as a maid and I could go as far as, I hate to say, a 'slave'. She had been smuggled into this country on one of the woman's daughter's passport under the guise of a birth daughter. This girl was made to look after the woman's three very young children while the woman spent most of the nights in church, cook and feed the children but the only way she could get anything to eat was to sock a pot in which she had cooked the food, scrape the bottom and eat the soggy bits. She was beaten up if the food got burnt which often was the case given she had not seen or cooked on a cooker in her life.

Unbeknown to the woman, I happen to come from the same country as her, Uganda, so I was able to pull out all the stops as I can speak a few Ugandan dialect. Drawing from my familiarity with Ugandan mobile networks, I could figure out the missing mobile codes to the numbers that were presented to us and I managed to interview the girl's so called uncle in Uganda over the phone. The truth was, this woman was not related to the girl - she had been bartered by her so clever uncle in return for financial support to her mother and siblings in Uganda. She was removed from her care.

My point is that we can not rely on the good will of those people who illegally bring children to this country only to mistreat, abuse and at worst kill them. Under the 'Working Together', Education, Health, SSD etc have a responsibility for the welfare of children. In other wards, schools, hospitals, GPs and churches should report the existence of children who suddenly appear and belong to a particular family, to SSD as those children are more likely to have contact with those services than with SSD. I also hope that the community can do the same.
